What is the 30under30?

30under30 is an Anthill initiative launched in early 2008 to encourage and promote entrepreneurship among young Australians.

Each year, we invite our readers to nominate young Australian entrepreneurs deserving of recognition for their outstanding entrepreneurial endeavours. More.

Dani-Elle Davidson, QLD (b. 1988)

Name: Dani-elle Davidson
Age: 24 (Born: August 1988)
Gender: Female
State: QLD
Known for: XiXi Lu

Dani-elle Davidson’s XiXi Lu is not a marketing company. Its mission: delivering brands by understanding what makes them tick.

The company’s name and presentation may seem, shall we say, a little dainty, but don’t be mistaken. XiXi Lu’s 24-year old founder — just like the company she operates — is a force to be reckoned with.

“I’m a 24 year old, high heel wearing, cheeky grinned, Gold Coast girl. When I walk into meetings, people tend to smirk,” says Davidson.

“Shortly after introducing myself, I hand over my business card which reveals the post-nominals ‘LLB(Hons), BIntBus, GradDipLegalPrac’ after the title ‘Director’. I’m a successful entrepreneur, but my education and experience as a litigation lawyer undoubtedly gives me cred.”

And her business is running on all cylinders.

XiXi Lu turned over $48,984 in its first two months of operation and grew with a 40-per cent increase over the first quarter of its operation. Davidson happily reports, the company is continuing to see growth across the board.

The unexpected chance for entrepreneurship came for Davidson, as it has for many others, from a job that didn’t work out.

“As laughable as it may seem now, I seized an unexpected opportunity when I took a job a little while ago that ‘wasn’t quite right’ (actually, it was a bit of a flop, ha!). But what seemed like a dose of misfortune then has resulted in my very own entrepreneurial enterprise (and the employment of others),” she says.

“Sometimes you never know what life has in store for you, or where you will end up. Remember to count your blessings, even those in disguise!”

For Davidson, XiXi Lu is the culmination of her love for the presentation of luxury fashion.

“I’m always clutching the latest edition of Harpers Bazaar or Elle, or scouting the most recent shop fronts acquired by Burberry or Lanvin. My professional role models are people like Tamara Mellon (Jimmy Choo) and Anna Wintour (Vogue),” she adds.

“I say this not because I am fashion obsessive, but because I am enthralled by the commercial strategies behind building great luxury brands and brand empires. This is my passion and like any great entrepreneur, this is now my business.”

At XiXi Lu, Davidson has rolled her interest into a firm that brings premium PR and marketing strategies to the art of building brands.

Anthill asks: Dani-elle Davidson, what’s your super power?

My super human power? The answer is easy, my side-kick of course! Like any great super hero I would be lost flying solo. My business partner, Paula Grant, offers an incredible set of skills and knowledge that I just don’t have (as well as a competing point of view). Together, we are the dream team and can take on anything!
