We’re not asking for a revolution, but there are some really simple things that the government could do to rock the world of startups and entrepreneurs. These five simple things would make a world of difference.
Professional creative community, The Loop, triumphed over industry heavyweights to win ‘Best Enterprise’ at the recent Australian Interactive Media Industry Awards (AIMIA). The 17th annual ceremony, attended by over 600 industry leaders, took place on Cockatoo Island in the Sydney Harbour.
The 17th AIMIA Awards have distinguished several projects and companies in the interactive media industry and as awarded the Outstanding Contribution Award to Oliver Weidlich.
Eight Australian digital companies have been named as finalists for the 14th Webby Awards. Established in 1996, The Webby Awards are known as the “Oscars for the Internet” honouring excellence on the internet from around the globe.
Sure, they may have the coordination of an engineer in O-week and the optical capabilities of Arthur Dent after three Pan Galactic Gargle Blasters but that didn’t stop Australia’s web glitterati (Or is that ‘clickerati’?) from donning their best converse sneakers, their thickest of black horn rimmed glasses and their favourite irony fuelled Threadless tees to party hard at the Peninsula Function Centre in Melbourne’s Docklands.

It’s a subject that is not often written or spoken about, particularly in the first person, leaving most entrepreneurs with only one option for learning how to shut a company down… the hard way.
