We all know about selfie sticks. (So, embarrassment!) Here’s a company out to make selfie sticks the next fashionable phone accessory.
SelfiePlus is a Sydney-based business launched by four young entrepreneurs earlier this year, created when a bunch of friends were frustrated with their selfie sticks constantly falling apart.
Born of necessity
Initially, the lads jumped on the bandwagon and purchased a $10-$35 stick from their local retailers. But, after three broken sticks (and a broken Samsung galaxy S4), they realised that the market didn’t have anything to offer for the average accident-prone consumer.
So, the “Tempus” was born.
More than the average selfie stick
What SelfiePlus has done with the Tempus is design and produce a selfie stick with a generous variety of colors, without compromising on quality, functionality or affordability.
When asked what made The Tempus stand out from all the other sticks flooding the market, SelfiePlus’ Philip Liang said, “The only thing that truly matters; the quality. Why buy a fragile $10 selfie stick from your local $2 store to hold up your branded $1,000 phone?”
The final challenge for SelfiePlus has been all about getting the cost down. So, to help launch the Tempus onto the market, at an affordable price, the fledgling startup launched a Kickstarter campaign on the 26th of April to raise funds to manufacture in bulk and bring the costs down.
