Name: Katie Prowd
Age: 25 (Born: January 1992)
Gender: Female
State: QLD
Known for: Hypometer and Fantasy Insider / Hypometer Technologies –http://www.fantasyinsider.com.au

Katie Prowd, 25, started Fantasy Insider with her business partner Darryl Woodford in 2013.

Fantasy Insider is Australia’s only Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) information source, community and tool that provides exceptionally accurate projections and data to help people win money-playing DFS from a beginner to an advanced level.

Prowd got involved because she believes in the enormous potential growth of this industry. It’s also a continuation of the extensive sports modeling and predictive data work she developed with her business partner. Fantasy Insider is accurate; it is the first and only of its kind in Australia and was built with the customer in mind since its inception.

She is known for turning academic research into a public interest start-up. This happened when she started as a research assistant, helping her now-business partner Woodford with his study of analysing social media trends for Big Brother. She realised an enormous commercial potential in what he was doing – two months later the pair received their very first small bit of funding.

She started her first incorporated company Hypometer Technologies previous to creating Fantasy Insider. It is a social media monitoring and analytics tool used for predicting outcomes through social media data and acts as B2B Software and as a Service (SaaS) platform and is the parent company of Hypometer and Fantasy Insider.

Prowd is motivated by a desire to live up to her own expectations of what she can do, more specifically, what she can do as a woman, especially a woman in the technology and sports industry. She was also motivated from an early age to run her own business, which has helped her get to where she is now; making that dream a reality.

Anthill asked Prowd, what is your super-power?

“I have the power of perspective. The second I have a new idea, or someone suggests something new, I’m thinking about how that could work from every different angel and what that will mean for everyone involved.

“Perspective and being able to put myself in someone else’s shoes is something I’m really proud of.”
