This innovation initially came to life when…

…looking into ways we could help people get the most out of their personal tech. We were inspired by a US startup called “”Enjoy”” (led by ex-Apple retail chief Ron Johnson) that delivered personal tech to your home, and spent an hour showing you how to get the most out of it in the comfort of your home. This idea tested poorly in the Australian market, so we used our customer insight (and a painful experience fixing one of the founder’s smartphones) and came up with the idea of delivering smartphone repair services in people’s homes.

2. WHAT & HOW

The purpose of this innovation is to…

Make smartphone repair quick, affordable and convenient.

It does this by…

Connecting people with broken phones to a network of trained and certified fix2U “”Repair Heroes”” who travel to the customer’s location and fix their phone on the spot. E-mail and SMS notifications in-conjunction with GPS-enabled dispatch keeps the customer updated throughout the entire process. Currently in 10 locations across Australia and growing, a fix2U Repair Hero is never far away.

3. PURPOSE & BENEFITS

This innovation improves on what came before because…

Our smartphone’s are the remote control to our lives. Fixing a broken phone is both expensive and time consuming. For example, the average turnaround time from booking to repair with Apple (for those lucky enough to live near one of their stores) is around 5 days. With fix2U, we’ll repair your device sameday with repairs typically taking only 30 minutes.

4. COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE

Expensive repair appointments from Apple (that require scheduling in advance). Many repairs require the phone to be sent away for extended periods of time. Alternatively, over-priced shopping mall providers could fix your phone same-day, using poor quality repair parts and offering very limited post-repair warranty periods (typically 3 months).

5. TARGET MARKET

It is made for…

B2C customers: 15.5m smartphones in Australia, 11% of which are accidentally damaged each year. This represents a TAM of $256m.

B2B customers : Our corporate customers reported device repair lifecycles as long as two week. A painful process involving loan devices to employees, security wiping devices, shipping devices off-site for repair etc. These pain points are completely eliminated by the fix2U on-premise smartphone repair service, conferring substantial time and cost savings to our corporate customers.

Our marketing strategy is to…

Initial traction (we have completed over 1,300 repairs to date) has been driven primarily by google adwords. Facebook and Google reviews (which are collected systematically) provide social proof and help spread the word about this new way of repairing your phone. Further, we support the fix2U Repair Heroes with local area marketing efforts (e.g. car magnets, flyers, community posts etc.).
