1. THE BEGINNING

This innovation came to life when…

I was living in a forest and realised my fire-fighting pump was the weak link in my stay-and-defend fire plan. I made a rudimentary sprinkler to protect it from flame, radiant heat and fuel vaporisation, to which many pumps are vulnerable.

After proving its worth during Black Saturday (it helped save both my property and my life), I have now brought the world’s first commercially available solution to market.

In the meantime, R&D continues with research organisations and industry partners, keeping us at the absolute forefront of innovative fire safety solutions.

2. WHAT & HOW

The purpose of this innovation is to…

Protect fire-fighting pumps from flame attack, radiant heat attack and fuel vaporisation, to which they are vulnerable. Transfer pumps left unattended (as most are) can actually start fires. The Pump Defenda reduces these risks to negligible levels.

It does this by…

It does this by using some of the water flowing in the pump to spray water over the pump and over adjacent pump assets, which might also include the hose, the plastic connections and fittings and now even the pump’s fuel container. It has a fully adjustable flow and remains effective even in turbulence.

3. PURPOSE & BENEFITS

This innovation improves on what came before because…

Previously, fire-pumps were left unattended, which is not safe. Now their pump can remain running and self-protecting and critical time is saved – just pick up the nozzle and use it, the pump is already running!

Its various benefits to the customer/end-user include…

Peace of mind. Fire pumps can save your life, they can make the difference between saving your property and not. Transfer pumps eliminate the risk of your pump starting a fire.

You also get to reduce the risk of huge lawsuits and can get ridiculously cheap insurance.

4. COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE

In the past, this problem was solved by…

The problems solved by Pump Defenda have never been effectively addressed until now.

Its predecessors/competitors include…

People who built their fire-pumps into a box, kennel or a pit, theirs failed due to the pump heating up in small spaces and the fuel vaporising (it happens in open air too).

5. TARGET MARKET

It is made for…

Anyone with a fire-fighting pump, be it petrol or diesel as well as anyone with a transfer pump, be it petrol or diesel.

It is available for sale through…

Our website www.pumpdefenda.com.au and retail distributors, as well as innovative distribution JVs with industry partners and other agencies.

Our marketing strategy is to…

Win lots of awards (see our website for our growing list) including Inventor Of The Year Award (IAAV), this is good fro PR and helps us get the word out about Pump Defenda.
