What is the 30under30?

30under30 is an Anthill initiative launched in early 2008 to encourage and promote entrepreneurship among young Australians.

Each year, we invite our readers to nominate young Australian entrepreneurs deserving of recognition for their outstanding entrepreneurial endeavours. More.

Karim El Barche, VIC (b. 1991)

Name: Karim El Barche
Age: 22 (Born: December 1991)
Gender: Male
State: VIC
Known for: Discovery Health & Fitness

“Only a few years ago, I had my fair share of challenges in life. Health and fitness changed my life and allowed me to live a life full of happiness and without limits,” Karim El Barche shares, about his motivation to start his first business, Discovery Health & Fitness in 2012.

“I launched my business so I could work with other young people to do the same. I noticed young people took their health for granted and I needed to do something about it.”

“At Discovery, we change lives through health and fitness,” he describes his business’ activities. “We coach our clients through eight-week lifestyle transformation programs and help them achieve their dreams by mastering their physical and mental capabilities.”

Karim got a buzz about his business going when he competed at the World Fitness Model Championships last year and respectably came in 7th, aged just 21. “Before that, I was just an average guy in the gym,” he remarked about the achievement.

Furthermore, after many years of travelling all over the globe, studying the best in the world of health and fitness, Karim now writes for and is often featured in some of the most reputable health and fitness publications such as Men’s Muscle & Health and Ironman.

Karim revealed to Anthill that for many years, he was afraid of public speaking so he recently worked with a close friend of his, Calvin Coyles (who is an Anthill 2014 30under30 winner too) to improve his public speaking skills and went ahead to immediately run a seminar where he made $10,000 in just 45 minutes!

Karim further disclosed that Discovery Health & Fitness was once $20,000 in debt but he managed to pull it to $200,000 within six months, and it’s now at around $250,000 in revenue. “With this current growth, we are on track to hit the one million mark by November,” he added.

Anthill asks: Karim El Barche, what’s your super power?

I am a visionary. I can see things as they will be years from now. I do not allow limitations into my mind.
