Very interesting, but you are right, not much progress.
The Aussie team is still at smoke and mirrors (excuse the pun).

I am not sure how they'll ever convince us, other than large scale demonstrations of moving stuff, that they are really doing what they say they are doing.

They can't explain quantum physics to us, and each other, yet they expect us to believe that the light at the other side of the room (OK beam of photons or some such very small stuff) is the same stuff.

I'm not buying it because I can't tell what made the stuff at this side of the room discernably unique.
I mean, I can't tell some twins apart and yet I know they are two different beings!
I have a lot more speculation on this topic written up but much of it went too far down the humour path I tend towards.

I think the reasearch will result in some pretty damn cool computing technology, but science fiction like teleportation...not in my life sadly.

Unless of course all that talk about Aliens in Area 51 is true ;-)
There are some interesting "quantum" stories related to that whole malarky as well.

Speculation is fun, delivering is hard.

Hmm, think I'll just look at the night sky for a while...

Here are some (slightly) more recent article on teleportation:

From 2002: http://www.abc.net.au/catalyst/stories/s665599.htm
From 2004: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/3811785.stm

There doesn't seem to be much information since. But it's a fascinating topic.

If Einstein thought it was "spooky" then it must be cool! :D

I enjoyed reading this, but it didn't really go anywhere. It's true, if we teleported our refuse, Earth would lose matter - maybe by them we'll have perfected alchemy and will simply convert refuse into steel, copper or silica.
