Suzi Dafnis – Community Director of the Australian Businesswomens Network

Both ladies are educating, influencing and inspiring women entrepreneurs in this country and OS. I’ve been lucky enough to interview them in the last year and both have had a profound effect on me, not to mention the other 10s of thousands of women they continually interact with.

I and others over in AU have shared plenty of experience/ideas with the rest of the community through various articles and forums – including Elias’ Silicon Beach forums.

I report what I do all day every day via Twitter – you are, of course, free to follow along and ask questions – I try to respond to everything I can.

I (and the other expats here) go out of our way to meet with and support aussies who come over by giving them orienteering meetings and introducing them to whoever they need.

Playing the aussie card doesn’t work at network events unfortunately – it works at clubs with girls though

Re: funding – yes Give up in Australia and come to the US – but you need existing traction and a clear reason why your team is best placed to execute on the idea.

How about reporting what you Aussies are actually doing in ‘the valley’ and is it for the benefit of anyone here? are you utilising or nominating any Australian companies for projects that you are working on? or do you just play the Aussie card at networking events?

Would you recommend that anyone seeking funding in Australia should give up and make the move?

I’d put in David Bussau from Opportunity International and E&Y entrepreneur of the year (2003) as a role model of a career worth aspiring too – sure, make some millions, but then use your brain to solve some of the hardest challenges in the poorest countries on the planet too.
