    As a chartered accountant I reflected on 24 years of experience in managing the fallout of financial mismanagement of many indigenous and non-indigenous organisations in remote, regional and urban communities and I identified the common reasons boards fail.

    The most common was a lack of awareness and understanding of their role and responsibility which can lead to frustration, poor management practices being implemented and at worst, complete organisational failure.

    It was through my own frustration at seeing many organisations fail that I recognised the need to provide a governance education tool which is cost effective, accessible, easily understood and culturally sensitive.

    The platform provides accessibility and a safe environment to learn and measure competency. It provides a more cost effective option than what the market currently offers and is also readily available, reaching a wider audience and is designed for understanding regardless of education level.

    …it is accessible on a mobile platform which means it is readily available – no more waiting for a governance program to be available in your capital city or regional area.

    Furthermore, boards can measure the capability of their directors and be proactive in improving their governance and the cost will also be significantly less than what is available in the current market.

    For existing boards; the ability to measure competency and take a proactive approach to good governance. For those considering board membership; preparation and confidence, accessibility, not a classroom environment or assignment based.
