The next time you feel the urge to complain about your economy class seat, spare a thought for British Airways staff who may have to pander to customer’s whims for free. In a drastic attempt to cut costs, BA has urged its entire workforce to work for one month with no pay in order to help the struggling airline.
It’s a “courageous” decision by BA executives, but not an unfathomable one. The company posted annual operating losses of 220 million pounds. Those heady days back in 2007, when BA released the ‘Pam Ann’ viral video (embedded below) emphasising its unrivaled staff service, certainly seem a long way away.
