Earth from 70,000 feet in a U2 spy plane

August 14, 2009 | By Paul Ryan

OK, so this isn’t really business related, but we love to be amazed and this video of James May, from Top Gear UK, taking an emotional flight to the edge of space in a U2 spy plane is great.

It’s easy to get bogged down in the minutia of our Earthly lives. It’s worth taking a step back now and then to appreciate, well, the magnificent absurdity of it all.

I was going to say something about the cheesy intro. Or the incredibly robotic “sir, yes sir” pilot. But then I got completely lost in the spectacle.

    Absolutely amazing.

Ahh I can’t help myself “yes, technically you are correct”, “I believe the word you are looking for is ‘gobsmacked’”. C-3PO, is that you?

If there is only one thing I could do before I truly leave this planet, it would be to see this planet from space. And yes, how different would the world be if we could all see Earth as one living and breathing thing, and stop drawing all kinds of boundaries all over it to carve it up into billions of fragments?

    Stunning.
