What is the 30under30?

30under30 is an Anthill initiative launched in early 2008 to encourage and promote entrepreneurship among young Australians.

Each year, we invite our readers to nominate young Australian entrepreneurs deserving of recognition for their outstanding entrepreneurial endeavours. More.

Taj Paberi, QLD (b. 1999)

Name: Taj Paberi
Age: 17
Gender: MALE
State: QLD
Known for: Fiftysix Creations

Imagine a jigsaw puzzle that comes to life when you snap in the last piece — this is what Taj Paberi has created through Fiftysix Creations.

Fiftysix Creations provides children, both privileged and underprivileged, with a kit that allows them to build their very own electronic tablet.

Taj’s mission is to ensure children aren’t only playing with technology, but understanding how it works as well.

A coding aspect of the kit also teaches children about programming, something many adults may not even understand.

Since 2014, Fiftysix Creations has educated over 43,000 children across the globe. Taj says his product has reached children in countries such as Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom, but also India, Kenya and Nepal.

Taj’s work has been featured on 60 Minutes, Sunrise, National Geographic, Nickelodeon and ABC.

To get to this point, Taj has faced a number of setbacks that many other entrepreneurs may never encounter. The most significant being high school.

Taj says it took him a few years to learn how to balance school and work. Being unable to answer his phone or check emails at school has proven a difficult obstacle for Taj. He says, overall, time management in general is anything but easy.

Nonetheless, a drive to change the world has kept him motivated and pushed him to find the balance.

“I started with a ‘simple’ goal of changing the world,” Taj says.

As much of a reach as that goal may seem, Taj says he feels he’s well on his way to accomplishing it.

Fiftysix Creations has set a goal to educate 1 million children by 2020.

Referring to his mission as “positive world domination,” Taj says he plans to achieve his goal through strategy and accepting failure as a way of learning.
