A realtor’s strongest selling point can often be photos. Steve Ungermann capitalized on this truth when he started his own real estate photography and marketing business at the age of 19.
At the time, professional photography was rarely used by agents, Steve says. This meant Steve was able to secure a solid spot in the market from the start.
Steve established his business before the importance of professional photography and the use of digital content in marketing campaigns became widely appreciated. Shortly after Capture Realty took off, realtors recognized the large benefits of its services.
When the business first found its legs, Steve would land clients by going to open houses on the weekends and pretending to be a buyer. He would strike up conversation with the agent and at just the right moment, he would reveal what his company did.
Since then, Steve has had over 12,000 photographs published on realestate.com.au. He also grew the monthly revenue for Capture Realty 788% after leaving his full-time job.
What enabled him to leave his full-time job seemed to be a series of fortunate events, Steve says. Just when he was about to give up on his business, a high school friend came to him with a small property marketing opportunity.
Now, that once small opportunity is Capture Realty’s biggest client.
Since starting as a full-time entrepreneur, Steve has stayed motivated by the thought of making hundreds of bosses lives easier, rather than just one.
“Long hours working towards an end goal excites me,” Steve says. “I’m addicted to the freedom and ability to express my drive and ingenuity through the businesses that I create.”
As odd as it may seem, Steve says one of his greatest attributes is his introverted nature.
“Above all, it has taught me how to tackle challenges and stressful situations with a smile on my face,” Steve says.
