What is the SMART 100?
Anthill’s ‘SMART 100′ Index was developed in 2008, in association with global market research agency Colmar Brunton, to identify and rank Australia’s 100 most innovative products, promising to be one of the largest surveys of its kind in Australia.

The process
Stage One (Nominations): Anthill Magazine, through online, print and direct mail channels, invites nominations from its readership and the broader Australian marketplace. STAGE ONE CLOSED.
Stage Two (Applications): Nominated organisations will be given the opportunity to complete an online submission form and survey outlining the innovative attributes of any given product/service. STAGE TWO CLOSED.
Stage Three (Judging#1): These submissions will be condensed and submitted to 1,600 Colmar Brunton ‘mavens’.
Stage Four (Judging#2): Through a ranking system devised by Colmar Brunton, in association with Anthill Magazine, the 100 most innovative products or services will be selected.
Stage Five (Accolades): The program will conclude with an awards function and the publication of the SMART 100 in Anthill magazine’s Apr/May/Jun 2009 edition.
What is Anthill Magazine?
Anthill is a national business magazine, dedicated to innovation, entrepreneurship and the commercial development of Australian ideas.
Anthill has built a reputation for its ‘maverick’ approach to busines reporting and various initiatives designed to support Australian innovation, from the ‘Cool Company Awards’ and ‘30under30′ to its inaugural ‘SMART 100′ Index.
Who is Colmar Brunton?
Colmar Brunton is one of Australia’s largest independent market research agencies, with offices in Singapore and every mainland state of Australia. Colmar Brunton stays at the forefront of technology by embracing new ways to gain greater insights from research.
The SMART 100 will apply Colmar Brunton’s ‘Maven Methodology’, combining new crowd-sourcing techniques with established market research principles, adding an element of ‘commercial’ reality to an area that in the past has largely been governed by ‘academic’ puffery (in our humble opinions). (More…)
