His company, Edway Training, offers the courses necessary for people get work in the construction and hospitality industries. Founded in 2007 with credit cards and loans, Edway now offers training in five states, getting people ready for the workforce in a streamlined, straightforward manner. As Sergienko describes it: “Effective, to the point, no B.S.”

“Me and my team have created a national company in a highly competitive industry with minimal investment,” he says. The company has doubled its growth each of the past three years, he says, reaching a turnover level of about $6 million last year. The company has made the BRW Fast Starter list.

Courses include construction induction and certificates for Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and Responsible Conduct for Gambling (RCG).

“I have simplified the booking and course process, thereby carving a niche for myself and my business,” Sergienko says. “I am always looking for new opportunities to expand my operations, I think outside the box.”

Sergienko took a hard knock a partner company for an investment business he once ran went under, taking more than $2 million in commissions and investments with it. He overcame the losses by pouring his soul into Edway, along with “a lot of hard negotiations and lessons.”

Today, he finds his entrepreneurial motivation in “not being completely satisfied with anything that I create. I’m always raising the bar for myself and my team, always looking for opportunities.”

“Reading people quickly and persuading them to act a certain way, making it seem that they came up with it. Everybody is happy that way.”
