What is the 30under30?

30under30 is an Anthill initiative launched in early 2008 to encourage and promote entrepreneurship among young Australians.

Each year, we invite our readers to nominate young Australian entrepreneurs deserving of recognition for their outstanding entrepreneurial endeavours. More.

Ryan Ebert, VIC (b. 1990)

Name: Ryan Ebert
Age: 26
Known for: PHW Group & Healthlogic Physiotherapy

Ryan started PHW Group to impact the health of office bound workers. Healthlogic Physiotherapy evolved from this after they saw many office employees still had injuries, niggles and pains. They built two physiotherapy clinics one in the CBD of Melbourne and one in South Melbourne to treat these people with a focus on impacting the health of occupational injuries.

“Through building health clinics now we can treat people’s health both at the office and outside the office when need be. PHW has also grown very well in the last 12 months picking up more businesses,” he told Anthill, about their progress so far.

“My most successful buzz building exploit is somehow pulling off getting a gig as the youngest lecturer for the Uni of Melbourne school of Physio and Health. Then using this gig to meet with big wig corporates and convincing them to enlist our business. Also may have gone into some business meetings with such big wig corporates and getting senior staff of ours (who look much more serious than me) to pretend to be the CEO and win us the work when required.”

Ryan says his entrepreneurship is driven by a desire simply to build. “I enjoy building. Building people back to health as a physio when I treat, building our team members, building our businesses and in the future building the buildings we work on the offices within.”

Healthlogic Physiotherapy has grown from one to two clinics in under six months and picked up half a dozen corporates already with our Physiodirect innovation. PHW has grown to over 60 team members now across all states of Australia and Ryan been listed in both Anthill and Smartcompany 30under30, Hesta Young Leader Healthcare awards for Australia, Vic Young Leader finalist and an award for impact to the Physio profession by the Australian Physiotherapy Institution.

Anthill asks: What has been your greatest ‘sales’ achievement?

The art of persuasion helped me lock down a mentor of mine who is the CFO of all of Bupa and convincing him when I was nothing I was worth a shot. Years later it’s no surprise Bupa is one of our clients and I still meet with this mentor very regularly, it’s been the best “sale” of myself I’ve ever done! Absolute game changer for ours and my own entrepreneurial growth.
