Recruitment Coach (QLD)

This innovation initially came to life when…

This innovation came to life when founder Paula Maidens looked to start a business, after returning to Australia from a long stint in an overseas recruitment agency. During her recruitment experiences, Paula saw firsthand how hard it was for small-medium businesses to find and keep the right people.

During some market research, businesses’ biggest complaints were that they were sick of the quick turnover they faced from agency-found employees, as well as the high costs. Paula decided to fill the gap with an innovative recruitment/HR business, where business owners could talk to business owners through a franchised delivery model.

WHAT & HOW

The purpose of this innovation is to…

The purpose of this innovation is to provide small-medium businesses with a transparent, low-cost solution for human resources/recruitment. Recruitment Coach empowers businesses to take control of their human capital, with flexible solutions delivered efficiently by our network of coaches.

It does this by…

Recruitment Coach offers huge flexibility – we can teach businesses to manage their own HR by setting up easy-to-manage processes and coaching key staff, or act as an outsourced executive. Ultimately, we aim to leave clients with the confidence to manage their own HR without support. Businesses can also subscribe to our online support resource, containing advice, tools, and templates.

PURPOSE & BENEFITS

This innovation improves on what came before because…

Recruitment Coach provides an affordable alternative to in-house HR, recruitment agencies, or HR consultancies – created to suit SME needs. Our focus is on simple, commercial and practical solutions that any business could use and on measurable business results. We take proven human resources strategies from corporate environments and simplify them, so that every business can access effective people processes.

Its various benefits to the customer/end-user include…

Recruitment Coach is flexible, offering as much or little support as required. Businesses have access to their HR expert – on call. Our solutions are strategic, focusing on clients’ business goals and measurable results, but we’ll also do all administration.

COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE

In the past, this problem was solved by…

Small-medium businesses could manage HR/Recruitment themselves – which requires internal knowledge amongst staff or a dedicated HR employee. Businesses could use agencies for their recruitment needs, but were left without further support. Human resources consultancies exist but typically focus on corporate solutions (with pricing to match), and weren’t tailored for the needs for smaller businesses.

Its predecessors/competitors include…

Our competition includes HR Coach and other independent HR consultancies. Recruitment agencies are also competitors, but are incentivised on placement rather than process or quality, which may not align with the business owner’s motivation.

TARGET MARKET

It is made for…

Recruitment Coach was created for the needs of small-medium businesses, without a dedicated human resources function. Typically, these businesses will have between 5 to 95 employees, although there are numerous exceptions amongst our clients. We generally work with businesses that place a high value on their time, such as professional services businesses.

Our target market is fairly large, due to the high percentage of small-medium businesses in Australia. According to the ABS, 32.0% of Australian employers (233, 957) employ 5-19 people, with 10.2% of Australian businesses (83,399) employing 20-199 staff, as of June 2009.

DISTRIBUTION STRATEGY

It is available for sale through…

As Recruitment Coach is a service, our coaches sell directly to clients. They can trial us via free one-hour consultations or breakfast training seminars. Our online solution is available for clients who would like to do the work themselves.

Our marketing strategy is to…

Our coaches contact potential clients directly to offer initial consultations and build strong relationships over time. As experienced trainers, we speak at conferences and events, which begins the education process for our potential customers. We also use digital and traditional marketing to generate leads, increase brand awareness and demonstrate expertise, such as online advertising, events, publicity, and email marketing.
