This new sharing economy start-up is delivering food from talented home cooks

0

Home cooking is back, as FoodByUs launches into Sydney to dish out something different and change how we think about food and sharing in the local community.

Two of the co-founders were the founders of online food delivery platform, Menulog which in 2015 sold for a whopping $855 million.

Instead of ordering off your local restaurants, this new online marketplace is the first in Australia to connect you with super talented locals in your community who love to cook, bake and create at home, so you don’t have to. Meals can be simply picked up or delivered straight to your door – and reviewed.

The new sharing economy platform serves up hundreds of approved passionate home cooks to offer freshly prepared quality food. From traditional family recipes passed down through generations; to cooks with international background influences; and locals offering delicious bites for people with special dietary requirements (including gluten free, vegan and paleo) – get your forks at the ready for this incredible experience.

How exactly does FoodByUS work?

Meet the makers by visiting foodbyus.com.au and choose from the vast variety on offer like Ryan’s British pies with an Australian twist; Sina’s gluten free baked and vegan donuts; Nicky’s smoothies in a jar; Denise’s yummy gluten free seed and spread snacks; and Mariana’s Argentinian style empanadas, to name a few.

Once you’ve explored the makers, select your favourites to pick up or get delivered straight to your door. To add an even more personal touch, you can direct message your maker to order something bespoke or to find out more.

“Following the success of the sharing economy, we are excited to launch FoodByUs into Sydney and later this year Melbourne. We created FoodByUs to give locals the opportunity to experience the wealth of talented home cooks in their area, which they won’t find anywhere else,” says Ben Lipschitz, co-founder and Managing Director of FoodByUs.

“We only accept top makers and every purchase on FoodByUs must get rated by the buyer, so everyone gets the best quality food and experience.”

Turn your passion for cooking into an income

If you love to cook, you can now turn your passion into an income, as FoodByUs connects talented home cooks with local buyers.

Whether it’s to fit around your existing full-time work commitments or using FoodByUs to turn your culinary skills into a full-time job, FoodByUs is the perfect marketplace for you.

The newest collaborative consumption, FoodByUs is changing the way we think about food and sharing in the local community. With 53 per cent of people in New South Wales having used a sharing economy platform in the past year alone, and 45,000 people having made an income, FoodByUs is helping to drive NSW’s lucrative $504 million economy.

To get a slice of the action, visit FoodByUs which allows you to access an instant community of buyers in your local community. All your marketing, payment and logistics are worked out so you can focus purely on doing what you love – cooking! FoodByUs is easy to use, with a low start-up cost risk, with significantly reduced overheads.

Also you can choose cooking hours to fit around your schedule and set your own food prices. Makers include parents who want to make an extra income, corporate warriors wanting a career change, retirees, and those who love to cook things they but can’t buy anywhere else.

Working just eight hours a week, selling 10 orders at $35 each, a home cook on FoodByUs can earn $350 of additional weekly income. In only a few short weeks of operation, several makers on FoodByUs are already seeing weekly sales of this amount.

Here is how you can join FoodByUs to share your savoury goodies:

  1. Masterchefs-in-the-making can visit foodbyus.com.au and apply online by answering a few simple questions
  2. You’ll then do a taste test and make sure you understand your responsibilities to be a quality home cook on the site
  3. Once approved, you will be helped to set up your FoodByUs store so you can start making delicious food and earning cash

Who are the minds behind FoodByUs?

FoodByUs is brainchild of Ben Lipschitz and former Menulog pair of Gary Munitz and Tim Chandler. The three co-founders have worked together for many years on previous businesses.

Gary has over 20 years’ experience in the software and technology industry. He loves start-ups and has co-founded several successful companies including GetPrice and more recently Menulog where he was the Managing Director.

Ben too loves start-ups, starting his first business straight out of university. This was a footwear brand distributed across 16 countries, and in 2014 the business was acquired.

Tim has years of experience in software and is an incredibly talented developer (at Menulog, Tim was the lead developer).
