1. THE BEGINNING

This innovation initially came to life when…

We realized that although we had saving money pretty well covered in other areas, there was still somewhere Aussies were being hit with huge costs all the time – their energy bills.

After snooping around, we found that all the energy comparison tools around were complicated, compared only small pools of providers which meant savings were going unfound, and often required users agreeing to receive pushy sales calls or spam emails.

That just wouldn’t do. We’re not fans of spam, and untapped savings potential drives us mad. But what could we do?

Make our own energy comparison tool of course.

2. WHAT & HOW

The purpose of this innovation is to…

Make it possible to find the cheapest energy plan for your home faster than you could make a cup of tea. We compare the entire market so you don’t miss out on any potential savings.

It does this by…

Using a purpose built comparison engine that crunches the numbers from over 1100 plans across 25 providers, then ranks results on estimated cost according to your postcode, household size and plan preferences. But that’s all under the bonnet – our comparison engine may be working furiously, but for users, it’s as simple as clicking a few buttons.

3. PURPOSE & BENEFITS

This innovation improves on what came before because…

Most other energy comparison services only compare a limited snapshot of the market and require users to fork over their contact details before showing any results. Ours doesn’t. You can compare the whole market, you don’t need to leave any details and we connect you to the energy provider’s website directly – no third party sales calls or emails.

Its various benefits to the customer/end-user include…

More money in the bank! By comparing as many energy options as we can get our hands on, and cutting through complicated jargon and marketing hype, Mozo is confident we help find users the best deal around.

In the past, this problem was solved by…

A severe case of bill shock which spurred on a D.I.Y hunt for a better deal, meaning hours of research contacting individual providers, or by using other energy comparison tools, which only compared a small number of commercially skewed providers.

Its predecessors/competitors include…

Other comparison sites, both in the commercial sector and government initiatives like Energy Made Easy – none of which made the grade in Mozo’s eyes.

5. TARGET MARKET

It is made for…

Anyone who likes life’s little luxuries – like lights, hot water or cooked food – but doesn’t want to pay through the nose for them.

Because our energy comparison is based on prices for specific areas (i.e. we ask for a postcode), the tool is not only suitable for all Aussies but it’s tailored to find the best deals for your situation and lifestyle. Whether you’re a suburban family that gives The Brady Bunch run for their money, or a single, inner-city student with no TV and one lightbulb, anyone can use our tool to find great savings.

It is available for sale through…

We’re all about saving you money, so we don’t charge a thing to use our energy tool and we don’t require you to leave contact details to get results. Just head to mozo.com.au/energy.

Our marketing strategy is to…

Bring people to our site by answering the questions that matter to them. We write blogs, guides and tips on every energy topic we think users might need to know about (bill smoothing or feed-in tariffs, anyone?) and spread the word through social media, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Pinterest. We’re about relevancy and money-savvy – not smoke and mirrors.
