This innovation initially came to life when…

During the Creative Tech Start up weekend in Brisbane. A team of 6, co founded a device that helps detect early onset dementia at the first possible symptom that being a change in gait pattern. The team came together as they all had personally been touched by dementia and wanted to make a change. Although no prevention, early detection gives quality to life to patients and family and may also help researches to continue to look for a cure.

2. WHAT & HOW

The purpose of this innovation is to…

…a hardware device that fits in between 2 shoe soles to detect changes in gait pattern. Through blue tooth or chip, it is able to provide data to doctors and specialists to help analyse changes and whether dementia it present.

It does this by…

…measuring the patients walking and gait patterns via pressure sensors in the hardware.

3. PURPOSE & BENEFITS

This innovation improves on what came before because…

…at this stage the current way doctors assess gait pattern is by doing a walking text in the clinic which does not provide accuracy or measurement. This innovation is the only one of the sort.

Its various benefits to the customer/end-user include…

Customers and patients as they are able to conclude whether they have dementia or not and also the medical industry as detecting it early lowers costs in hospital settings.

A walking assessment by a doctor to test there gait pattern. They would walk a couple of metres and then turn around and come back.
