This innovation initially came to life when…

My family and I urgently needed an overnight marina berth for our boat a year or so ago. I had to call up several marinas and perform multiple web searches to enquire about rates, and found it to be a very antiquated process. I then completed a User Experience Design course last year where I was able to focus on a project of my own choosing. I knew this would be a great opportunity to bring an idea I had been mulling over for a little while to life. And as a result, MoorMe was born.

Take the hassle out of searching for and booking a marina berth by consolidating pricing, availability, amenities and contact information in an easily accessible online solution.

It does this by…

Allowing boaties to enter their desired location, check-in/out dates, required amenities and services, and vessel specifications to search for tailored pricing and availability information. Users can then favourite preferred marinas to compare offerings and take advantage of deals available only through the site. Once a desired marina has been selected, users can quickly and easily make a booking online.

3. PURPOSE & BENEFITS

This innovation improves on what came before because…

MoorMe provides boaties with an intuitive online platform for comparing prices and a more efficient way to book a berth. Currently there is no solution that aggregates overnight pricing information, provides the ability to filter marinas via services/amenities or shows marina berth availability for the 350 marinas in Australia so this would be a first here.

Making several phone calls to familiar marinas; filling out an online form; or performing a lengthy web search to eventually unearth a rates PDF. This process is made even more difficult when a mariner may not be familiar with an area, with the process often being repeated if the offered price is too expensive or if a berth isn’t available.

Its predecessors/competitors include…

Phoning a marina or using a portal like Berthsuite.com which has limited functionality. There is no other solution in Australia that enables mariners to comprehensively compare multiple offerings, see berth availability and filter results via the specific amenities they require.
