With a name like Vinomofo, this organisation must be bad-ass. The prefix “vino” gets my nostrils a’ snffing, and I guess that makes me a “vinomofo.” So cool points to the plus side, right out the gates for this company!
Vinomofo has an ambitious mission: to create a new generation of wine consumers far removed from the effete, bourgeois, oloroso –sipping Frasier Cranes with whom the pastime has long been associated. Since its initial launch in 2007, Vinomofo has endeavoured to bring people and wine together as a source of good wines and engaging customer service practices.
Started by self-described “scruffy wine geeks” Andre and JD, Vinomofo is really about having some fun and enjoying some of the best, most interesting wine on the market today. Vinomofo challenges the status quo of traditional retail pricing being based on a cost structure that does not exist in the current marketplace. Unlike the traditional wine clubs – which were created to shift over-stock wine – Vinomofo focuses on quality and education… in characteristically unpretentious ways.
Internally, Vinomofo gains additional cool points for working to facilitate a healthy dollop of company culture, as well. According to its company credo, Vinomofo’s culture is defined as “It’s the sum of the people on the team, our philosophy, and the people we are and want to be. It guides our actions, our decisions, our products, and our communications.”
Vinomofo delivers on this definition by holding Monday morning meetings during which “wins” across any department are celebrated with high fives all around. Vinomofo has even conducted innovative team building exercises like having each employee stand and be showered with positive descriptors. The move was markedly “un-Australian,” but highly effective, according to the company.
Vinomofo makes our list for being cool, cocky, and slightly irreverent – not unlike Anthill itself, as a matter of fact. The wine company speaks to a new generation of wine drinkers and provides a more engaging, human experience. Vinomofo charges ahead, spreading good wine and good times from coast to coast.
