Anthill Cool Company Awards
The Cool Company Awards were launched in 2006 as a way for Anthill to acknowledge and celebrate Australian organisations that are doing things differently to bring about positive change. Cool Companies stay one step ahead of the rest. They breed leaders who are rule-makers and rule-breakers. They are trend-setters in attitude and action. Quite simply, they are … cool! More.

Who doesn’t love concerts? Sadly, here in Australia, many bands overlook us for various reasons (namely, the great logistical cost in getting here). But one company that makes our 2013 Cool Company Finalists list is tackling that problem, head on.
GiggedIn Founder Edwin Onggo got too frustrated with not being able to see the acts he was so passionate about seeing. He decided to do something about, and in 2012 he started GiggedIn, a site that aims to guarantee that every music event is packed out with a large audience and to enable more gigging opportunities for emerging artists.
The site enables music fans to pledge to buy tickets for events knowing a minimum number is required before the event moves forward.
In other words, GiggedIn is helping fans bring bands – now that’s a novel concept.
For the artists, GiggedIn removes the risk involved in booking a show.
“The problem of risk mitigation of events was often solved by forcing large fees on artists who desired to perform on the night,” the company tells us.
“This is to cover the breakeven cost of running the event in the instance not enough punters turned up.”
The big benefit? Promoters and venues always make money whilst artists are given more opportunities to perform and reach new audiences.
Oh, and music fans get to see more shows. Nice.
