Cool Company Awards

The Cool Company Awards were launched in 2006 as a way for Anthill to acknowledge and celebrate Australian organisations that are doing things differently to bring about positive change. Cool Companies stay one step ahead of the rest. They breed leaders who are rule-makers and rule-breakers. They are trend-setters in attitude and action. Quite simply, they are … cool! More.

Enable IT Recycling [Finalist, SOCIAL]

Company: Enable IT Recycling

State: VIC
Category: SOCIAL

With IBIS reporting in 2015 that both the online retailing and e-waste industries to be growing at an annual rate of 9-10 per cent, Enable IT Recycling does not exist by chance. Much research and planning has been undertaken to arrive at where the company is at today.

The company operates purposefully in growing industries to further improve employment prospects for disadvantaged jobseekers in these industries whilst operating in commercially attractive growth sectors.

Enable IT Recycling personifies cool by helping out in the environment through saving e-waste from landfill as well as tackling social problems by having work and learning activities to assist local disadvantaged job-seekers with employability skills to increase their likelihood of gaining employment.

It pushes the cool envelope by backing up its claims with numbers. Environmentally, since it started Computer Recycling, it has saved over 25 tonnes of computer waste from landfill. As a registered not for profit charitable entity, it has worked with over 40 participants in the Work Skill programs.

And here’s the best of all, they have done this in just five months!

Despite not having a physical Head Office, Enable IT Recycling has managed to tackle two major social issues at once and has exceeded expectations during its early-development phase since start up in May 2016.

The company is now quickly approaching growth phase – the more it grows its commercial recycling services, the more social impact it can create and deliver.

Bi-social community change; totally cool!
