What are the Anthill Cool Company Awards?

The Cool Company Awards were launched in 2006 as a way for Anthill to acknowledge and celebrate Australian organisations that are doing things differently to bring about positive change. Cool Companies stay one step ahead of the rest. They breed leaders who are rule-makers and rule-breakers. They are trend-setters in attitude and action. Quite simply, they are … cool! More.

CQ Nurse

CQ Nurse is really, really cool. What’s not to love about selfless caregivers and healers who routinely venture to remote locales to administer care? Angels of mercy, really, is just what they are. And they are online and in the social media, too. CQ Nurse is wildly cool – just have a look.

CQ Nurse was borne out of the idea of filling deficits in remote, rural, and regional nursing facilities across Australia. Since its initial launch in 2002, the company has met that goal and expanded into the areas of workplace health, immunisation, community, and in-home care. Other offerings from CQ Nurse include online education, both free and paid, aimed at community and workplace wellness.

CQ Nurse’s main purpose is to provide highly trained and qualified nursing personnel to really, really remote locations. As a result, patients often enjoy the benefit of having nurses available in places where doctors are in short supply or absent altogether.

The Agency Nurses are the miracle workers of Qcnurses. Nurses are often placed in extremely difficult circumstances, in remote locations, and in less-than ideal accommodations. The nurses are nevertheless always willing and able to rise to the challenges of working under pressure to meet the demands of the job with care and expertise.

In the past, the problem was not solved, and was endemic to rural and remote communities throughout Australia. CQ Nurse’s founder Kim Estell identified this terrible situation and vowed to change it for the better. Which she did and continues to do so, always with a very creative and approachable management style.

CQ Nurse is an SAI global finalist for the 2012 SAI Global Systems Awards, the Openminds 2012 Mental Health Week Achievement Awards, and the Mackay Industry Area Network 2012 Awards.

The healers at CQ Nurse are web savvy, too. The company is using social media to generate leads, and is having great success in doing so. The company offers YouTube tutorials, as well.

As far as company culture, the company sums it up, saying:

“It’s tangible, and most clients perceive it as helpfulness, courtesy, understanding, empathy, humour, professionalism, or a combination of those components. It’s CQ Nurse-ness, and there’s no other way to describe it, until you’ve experienced it.“
