Bound Round initially came to life when its Founder was on a flight from London to Sydney. She overheard a conversation between some children and their parents, with the former complaining they had nothing fun to do when they arrived.

It was a light bulb moment (oh, those are the best, aren’t they?). It occurred to her that there are plenty of resources available for adults planning a vacation, but nothing aimed at kids to involve them in the travel planning process. The idea to create a series of interactive travel apps for kids, with content reviewed and developed by kids, was born.

Ultimately, Bound Round’s product gives children a vote in family travel decisions. The company tells us that its mission is to create fun and educational travel experiences which kids can enjoy anywhere, and in doing so improve literacy and cross-cultural understanding.

It does this by engaging children in a journey of discovery of their chosen destination. The Bound Round series of interactive travel apps use stories, photos, videos and games to educate and excite. Kid friendly facts are shared about each destination, and interactive sharing of photos and journals enhance the learning journey.

“This product improves on what came before because there was nowhere for kids to go for content specifically created for them to learn about a travel destination in the context of a holiday,” the company says.

In the past, this problem was solved by adults doing the research on behalf of children and making final travel decisions without active involvement of these kids. Bound Round factors in the whole family.

And that makes them cool with the kid; and that makes them Cool with us.
