In the latest episode of Talking Business, Leon and Garry discuss the bucketloads of profit BHP Billiton recently announced – a 71.5% jump to over $1.1 billion, no less. And it seems it’s something of a trend, with Westfield, Wesfarmers, Bendigo and Adelaide Banks, and Dominos Pizzas also announcing significant profit growth.
On a more scandalicious note: the Reserve Bank is spending millions on furniture, including a $18,000 desk for governor Glenn Stevens; BHP Billiton Marius Kloppers was worried about espionage from the Chinese, according to Wikileaks; and the Business Council of Australia wants the government to cut disability payment to fund the repair to flood damage.

Garry Barker and Leon Gettler both have established careers with The Age newspaper, where Garry Barker is its Technology Editor, and Leon Gettler is a Senior Business Journalist. Gettler also works freelance on a number of other publications.
