Kick. Push. Grind. What do skateboarding and innovation have in common? [VIDEO]
Kick. Push. Grind. What do skateboarding and innovation have in common? [VIDEO]

In the world of skateboarding, Rodney Mullen is beyond famous. Even legend doesn’t quite cover it.

If you’ve ever looked at skateboarders, or snowboarders, or any one doing a balance sport, and wondered ‘how do they do that?’, then watch this video. Better yet, if you’ve ever thought ‘how did they know they could do that?’, watch this video.

Besides being a legendary skater, Mullen also cofounded World Industries, the largest skate company in the world during the 1990s.

His passion for skating, life and innovation is contagious. In his humble and goofy manner, he delivers pearls of wisdom that every entrepreneur, and indeed skater, can take to heart.

The sheer irony that Mullen is on stage at TEDx at the University of Southern California, a place that he has been escorted from for skating many times, is gold. As a skater, he remains a rebel in the world with no place to go.
