What is the 30under30?

30under30 is an Anthill initiative launched in early 2008 to encourage and promote entrepreneurship among young Australians.

Each year, we invite our readers to nominate young Australian entrepreneurs deserving of recognition for their outstanding entrepreneurial endeavours. More.

Jeremy Hansen, QLD (b. 1996)

Name: Jeremy Hansen
Age: 20
Gender: MALE
State: QLD
Known for: GlowBored

High school dropout turned successful businessman — this is just one way to describe Jeremy Hansen and his entrepreneurial success.

In 2011, at the age of 16, Jeremy founded GlowBored, a forward thinking public relations firm, which now manages a wide variety of clients across Australia.

An itch to get started in the real world led Jeremy to leave high school in grade 10, he says. He didn’t feel as if he was learning real life skills in the classroom.

As any good entrepreneur, Jeremy made it happen. He got out into the real world and started learning the life skills he longed for.

On GlowBored’s website, the company refers to itself as a PR firm of the future. Jeremy maintains this image by “making his own rules.”

Jeremy says setting himself apart from his competitors is a key component to his business model.

“Our competitors draw the line and say ‘that isn’t part of our job,’ we make everything our job,” Jeremy says.

Jeremy also says, as a PR firm, his company focuses on building buzz for their clients, not for themselves.

In order to grow his business, Jeremy has relied on word of mouth and the quality of GlowBored’s work to speak for itself.

Though this strategy has worked well for GlowBored, not a day goes by without a bump in the road, whether that bump be great or small.

“Every single day is full of problem solving,” Jeremy says. From misplacing labels to restitching a hem, Jeremy’s team is a group of problem solving wizards.

From these problem solving skills comes satisfied clients and great reward.

“Opening the pages of a magazine and seeing your clients, or opening the newspaper and seeing a review for your clients show,” Jeremy says. “That never gets old.”
