It's a mobile kind of magic. Startup weekend Adelaide discovers some magic, then makes some

Like Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, Adelaide has stepped up as a city that is encouraging innovation. In March, “Startup Weekend Adelaide” was held with the goal of finding the next big app for mobiles.

More than 70 business people, software developers and graphic designers met at the Adelaide Microsoft offices to work their magic. They were joined by a group of 30 mentors, speakers and judges.

At the end of the weekend, 15 companies had been formed and as many as 46 different ideas generated.

And the winners are…

The winning contestant, 360 Magic, as its name suggests, brings magic to mobile phones – in fact, it’s an app to teach users magic tricks.

Vinh Giang from 360 Magic commented that the team had received answers at the start-up event to questions it had been asking for about a year. Like winners of other similar events, the founder of 360 Magic had been working on the idea long before Startup Weekend.

Other winners from the weekend included EventVolt, K-Sign, FoodCloud, Theme the Party and Rentable.

No talk, all action. Every little thing they did was magic. Did you see what I did there?
