The Sydney-based specialised accelerator Ignitions Labs is inviting applications from early-stage health and medical technologies startups for its 2013 program.

Applications close 28 July. A short list is to be announced in August, followed by interviews and final selection and offers. The program starts in September, with Australian and US/EU roadshows scheduled from November through March 2014.

Ignition Labs will pick five startups that will each receive $25,000 in cash, besides mentorship from top industry stalwarts that will help them convert early-stage ideas into fundable businesses over six months. Check out this year’s mentors here.

The program culminates with a road show, where portfolio companies will pitch their business to angel and VC investors in Australia and the US or Europe.

The accelerator is powered by ATP Innovations, the Sydney-based incubator.

ATP Innovations and Ignition Labs simultaneously announced three partners for the program this year. They are intellectual property firm Griffith Hack, which specialises in intellectual property protection for health and medical technologies innovations; UK Trade & Investment, the commercial arm of the British government and helps overseas companies build business in the UK; and British Airways, which will fly qualifying Ignition Labs applicants to London attend Health 2.0 in November,
