Thanks so much most interesting. I have likened Twitter to throwing words down a well and listening to hear if they land. But it's always to the same ol probs of reading reading reading and them digesting and putting into practice while lid popping everything else.

Most importantly, you had a clearly specified goal, with a clearly specified outcome, and a clearly specified end in sight.

Without the last, particularly, such efforts often falter

In a brand and business sense, this is the nut of how Twitter can work. It's a promotional and networking mobiliser like no other. It crosses over promotion, great example of through the line communications. Trying to pin Twitter down to doing x dilutes the value. Understanding that it does x, through leverage of y and z, is where the rubber hits the road

This is a great article and the example is spot on. Well done.

You've given some great little tips on how to be more interactive.Cheers!

Great - I got this article sent to me in a private twitter so I guess it works!

Your quote: " a sports arena full of people all shouting random things at the top of their voice in the hope that someone is listening" - rings very true. I wonder how many people are so busy writing their own twitters that they take time to read others. Especially now as every company is doing it.

However your tips are of great use to all users so well done.

Brilliant. I'm still sceptical of Twitter (being a journalist) but things like this help remove that attitude.

This is a great article - it's a beautiful summary of the best use of Twitter. So many people don't understand the concept of following people versus following trends, but it's all about trust, tribe-building, and adding value. With a solid example, you've really put this well. Thanks!
