How a new group buying site is putting the household handyman back on the couch

Finding a tradesman is getting much easier in Australia thanks to a new partnership between Trade Saver, the ambitious group buying platform for findings deals on trades and renovations, and OMG, Australia’s largest online directory network.

OMG!

The deal with Fairfax Media owned OMG, will promote Trade Saver on many of the online directory company’s more than 30,000 websites covering more than 60 industry categories.

Trade Saver’s Managing Director, Tobias Diamandopoulos, says the agreement will put the company’s services on the peripheral of many thousands of new potential customers straight away.

“The Trade Saver website has been steadily gaining popularity through a number of marketing and affiliate initiatives, however the program with OMG will substantially increase traffic,” Mr. Diamandopoulos continues.

“We are putting up new deals for trades and renovators on the site nearly every day, and any new traffic will ensure even more deals will come on line.”

Call a professional, hun!

So just what kind of deals does Trade Saver offer? Well, quick looks at the company’s website shows group buy offerings such as a licensed carpenter for $28 an hour, glass wall tiles for $15 per square metre, a paintjob for your bathroom for only $62.50, and many other deals on trades and trade tools.

The company launched its Trade Saver website in April and has since signed up independent hardware chain Hudson Building Supplies, Queensland-based Bretts Hardware, several Mitre 10 franchisees as well as numerous trades and building supply companies.

Trade Saver is aiming to be innovative in its integration of both products and services, putting it in contrast to many other group buying sites.

“The new labour hire section of the website allows trades to sell their services online by allocating a set amount of time at a fixed hourly rate, a square metre rate, an installation price or any other offer trades can think of to connect to consumers,” Diamandopoulos says.

The new affiliate program in partnership with OMG will go live on 4 September, 2012 and will reach more than 1 million internet users upon its launch.

Trade Saver is the first group buying platform specialising in trade based products and services for the building and construction industries, including the quickly evolving renovation market, providing users with quality services and tradespeople, while getting dear old dad to put down that hammer (phew!). The company also expects its services to benefit related industries throughout Australia.

“We expect the new initiative to provide a much-needed boost to the struggling construction and building industry as it will make it easier for trades men and women to find work,” added Diamondopolous.

It looks like Trade Saver is on a mission to put your household handyman out of business and back on the couch, with a beer in his hand (and he’s probably not complaining about it).
