Green jobs gain Federal boost

The Rudd Government’s $75 million Climate Ready program, part of the industry collaborating Clean Business Initiative, has announced $13.4m in grants to 22 businesses for projects supporting approximately 180 ‘green’ jobs.

The program will offer matching grants of between $500,000 and $5m to assist in developing innovative solutions to climate change.

The new grants mean that the government is now funding 73 projects in total, which are worth more than $58m and support around 760 jobs.

Among the projects supported are:

  • A NSW business awarded more than $485,000 to develop unique air conditioning systems that are 12 times more power-efficient than traditional systems.
  • A WA business that was awarded $2.6m to create lightweight components for fuel-efficient transports.
  • A Queensland business awarded $500,000 to work on innovative equipment and processes for the recycling and recovery of green and organic waste.

The full list of successful ‘Round 3’ recipients has yet to be posted on AusIndustry’s website, but we’ll add a direct link to more information when it is published.
