1. THE BEGINNING

This innovation initially came to life when…

We collaborated with one of Australia’s largest banks to work together to increase the number of women in senior technology leadership roles. From this was born the Girl Geek in Residence program, which we have since been able to scale to ACMI, where we supported the delivery of the ACMI Xcel technology accelerator, and also recently to a prominent girls school in Melbourne. This process has enabled us to collaborate in a way that’s embedded across a number of organisations rather than everyone working in pieces across the ecosystem.

2. WHAT & HOW

The purpose of this innovation is to…

…boost the number of women in senior leadership roles within the technology space, so that we are working towards more gender balance and visibility for women in these positions of influence.

It does this by…

…providing services direct to corporates, often in the form of collaborative problem solving. We say what problem can we solve together?” and we find the resources to take action and get on with doing it. We work in-house at these large corporations to locate the challenges and shift the paradigm from the inside out.

3. PURPOSE & BENEFITS

This innovation improves on what came before because…

There is huge gender imbalance in the technology industry, and while a lot of people have verbally addressed this, there was nothing in the market that was creating tangible solutions to actually solve the issue. Our Girl Geek in Residence program is designed with deliverables in mind, so we actually shift the needle rather than just discuss it.

Its various benefits to the customer/end-user include…

An increase in the number of women in senior technology leadership roles within the organisations, and then more broadly across the industry. This generates an internal culture shift, which resonates in society when we have more equality in the workplace.

4. COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE

In the past, this problem was solved by…

Lots of talk and not much action. The conversation around gender equality is constantly evolving and we are helping to shape it. We feel we have innovated heavily around the issue and created new actionables that will tangibly drive change.

Internal programs usually created by in-house teams. Our Girl Geek in Residence program is the first custom-made scalable program created specifically to address corporate culture and issues surrounding gender imbalance at leadership level.

5. TARGET MARKET

It is made for…

Corporates, and by default, society. Gender equality in the workplace should be everyone’s priority, it’s not just a nice to have. It largely goes unsaid about gender equality, but once you get a higher rate of equality in society, family violence rates starts to go down. We do what we do because we want to affect the whole of society. Our initiatives aim to tackle the issue of gender inequality right through from classroom to C-Suite.

It is available for sale through…

We have a strong digital presence that promotes our programs, although this service is our most personal and bespoke offering, so we often go in direct through networking and referrals.

Our marketing strategy is to…

Utilise our digital channels to continue growing our online community. We have invested in PR and building our own personal brands to extend our reach and establish our voice as an authority on the issue. We also deploy an authentic content marketing strategy across our digital platforms.
