The Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) announced yesterday that it will be staging a free IPO workshop, on 16 February, for small cap companies (companies with a market capitalisation of between $300 million and $2 billion) interested in growing their business through public listing.

The event, held in conjunction with Wholesales Investor, will introduce small cap companies to the fundamentals of Initial Public Offering (IPO) planning from financial, legal, fundraising and broking perspectives.

Designed as an informal forum, experts from Norton Rose, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Bell Potter Securities and Wholesale Investor will provide information to potential ASX issuers with guidance in IPO planning, and determining whether listing is appropriate for their business requirements and long-term strategic goals.

The speakers will include:

  • Kate Julius, Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers — Accounting requirements
  • Andrew Rankin, Partner, Norton Rose — Legal requirements
  • Simon Matison, Partner, Bell Potter Securities — Broking requirements
  • Reuben Buchanan, Director, Wholesale Investor — Pre-IPO fundraising

The workshop will be held from 8.30am to 11.30am on 16 February, 2010 at ASX Ltd, 20 Bridge St, Sydney 2000.
