Australia largely escaped internet service provider ads in the mid to late 1990s.
But, America was haunted by them. Mainly thanks to my old employer, AOL.
AOL did blanket marketing. AOL CDs were everywhere, it even got to the point where they were packaged with frozen food, so determined was Steve Case to get everyone in America online.
The tv ads were chitty-chatty conversations that had to explain what the internet was and what you could do on AOL.
This parody ad takes a look at how Facebook would have been sold if it has existed in 1995.
