Name: Dina Gofman
Age: 30 (Born: December 1986)
Gender: Female
State: NSW
Known for: Project Accounting Australia – http://projectaccountingaustralia.com

Dina Gofman, 30, is a Chartered Accountant (CAANZ) who started Project Accounting Australia (PAA) in 2016. She and her business partner discovered a gap that needed to be bridged between finance and project management through a streamlined framework.

PAA is about bringing project professionals together through industry-standardised approaches to project finance. Currently, many large organisations are investing in project finance professionals and teams in order to take advantage of hybrid accounting and project specialists. These specialists exist mainly from the many “tests” and “failures” that the industries have undergone in the past decade.

This is where PAA comes in, to drive a standardised approach for organisations that may not have the investment appetite of large organisations, but are looking at increasing efficiency and utilisation of their current accounting function. By providing education services to both Project Managers/Product Owners and Accountants in order to maximise the benefits of working together as a cross functional team.

Gofman’s unique experience working with project managers along with her accounting knowledge helped her take the leap into this new profession. She is driven by the desire to share the importance of financial literacy to empower individuals and ideas, in both a personal and business sense.

As a new company, Gofman has many roles within PAA. She is the gatekeeper by whom she reports the true and fair view of how a project is tracking financially, and the advisor who counsels the project team regarding the financial treatment and implications of the various decisions being made and what their impact is on both the project and the business.

In 2015, Gofman had the opportunity to mentor a young woman in Uganda over Skype to provide education, support and the mentorship she needed for her retail shop during the volatile two-year initial stage. This experience inspired her to start PAA.

Anthill asked Gofman, what is your super-power?

“Being able to communicate numbers in a personal manner for the non-finance mind.”
