1. THE BEGINNING

This innovation initially came to life when…

…the health messages out there became too overwhelming for the general public because the media and unqualified health professionals created scarcity and fear, telling people what they ‘should’ eat, feel and do to stay healthy. As a qualified nutritionist, I realised the disconnection between body awareness, mindfulness and diet among my clients and I wished to create an authentic program that help them connect the dots and be empowered again. Design Your Health bridges conventional and evidence-based complimentary medicine combining cooking, nutrition, Chinese medicine, massage and yoga into the client’s treatment plan.

2. WHAT & HOW

The purpose of this innovation is to…

…reconnect and empower our clients to take ownership and control of their health. We also want to set an example showing the power of combining conventional medicine and evidence-based complimentary medicine.

It does this by…

…communicating with the clients about what he/she needs the most. We assess them with full medical history, diet and lifestyle. Discuss treatment options and how each of the services may benefit them. Based on the assessment, we design the health package together that will help them achieve their health holistically (e.g. treatment will focus on nutrition with acupuncture sessions).

3. PURPOSE & BENEFITS

This innovation improves on what came before because…

…most health clinics don’t work holistically. For example, a nutritionist may provide a meal plan for a diabetic client but doesn’t think about how combining acupuncture treatment at the same time can accelerate results faster. Most clinics have packages for separate services. Design Your Health incorporates all services in one package which makes it more holistic and affordable.

Its various benefits to the customer/end-user include…

…mind and body wellness with an understanding of the different aspects they need to look into when wanting to achieve health. They will also understand there is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to diet and lifestyle.

4. COMPETITIVE LANDSCAPE

In the past, this problem was solved by…

People search on their own to find the solution because clients are often only offered one single modality when they go into a health clinic. Clients need to go to three or four different places to get all of the services needed, which decreases communications between practitioners and also increases the overall cost for clients.

DYH2

Its predecessors/competitors include…

…clinics that have more than one modality may cross-refer if needed but most clinics do not have a holistic package that incorporates the range of services like what we offer.

5. TARGET MARKET

It is made for…

…women who have been a wife, a full-time worker, a daughter or a mother for years. These women are more likely to put themselves last and care for everybody else first and over the years they have neglected themselves. When health issues are raised, they suddenly realise it’s time to do something for themselves however they don’t know where to start. They may start to eat emotionally, yo-yo dieting with no results. But they may not see the deeper issues around the connection between self-love, a healthy mindset, a good digestion, a non-diet approach to eat healthy and good hormonal balance.

It is available for sale through…

…our holistic nutrition & lifestyle centre. First stage of this innovation is one-on-one based and we will also develop a group program. Second stage is to develop an app with a recipe bank, templates and support network.

Our marketing strategy is to…

…reach out to the community like schools, mother’s groups and corporate. We will be speaking at events and expos, provide free e-book downloads and offer complimentary assessments to our leads. We are also very active on social media; we reach and educate our audience through consistent quality contents and practical tips.
