Tapit’s super-speedy seed funding round
Our guess is there’s a whole lot of ‘Booyah!’ heard in the vicinity of Tapit Media’s Sydney offices right about now. The start-up, which specialises in new Near Field Communication (NFC), recently closed its seed funding round a diddy 22 days after pitching to Sydney Angels. So what is it about Tapit that makes investors part with their moola at breakneck speed?
Renee Wade, 2011 Anthill 30under30 Up-and-Comer
It started as a blog aimed at giving women advice about relationships and empowerment. It has grown into much more for Renee Wade. The campaign chiefly addresses Australia’s rate of suicides — 80% of whom are men. The problem, says Chan, is that depression, drug addiction, domestic violence, etc., are issues that too many “tough blokes” are afraid to talk about honestly.
