The immediate benefit it creates for businesses is the confidence to begin "dabbling" with social media with confidence someone is covering your back.  It seems useful for social media agencies if their consultant sits in the client's "tweet release" workflow. The client's employees can begin tweeting with the confidence an expert can intervene/intercept/edit. It's like trainer wheels. Benefits the agency (value add) and the businesses (insurance).
