First Aussie hardware incubator to launch in the heart of Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley

Queensland is set to become Australia’s major hotbed for hardware innovation, with the country’s first hardware incubator set to open in Brisbane this month; Arc.

With support from the Australian Government’s Federal Incubator Grant, the 460m2 incubator in the heart of Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley is designed to help startups streamline the development and commercialisation of ground-breaking hardware products.

Helmed by Vektor Innovation, Arc provides access to cutting-edge advanced prototyping and manufacturing equipment, technical know-how and industry mentorship.

What exactly is Arc aiming to achieve?

Vektor Innovation CEO, Victor Vicario said Arc was created to combat the current lack of access to prototyping technologies which has encumbered countless inventions coming to fruition.

“Startups are having a difficult time accessing much-needed advanced prototyping and manufacturing technologies, as well as general guidance and assistance on how to best adopt such resources,” Vicario said.

“Arc provides a much-needed solution, enabling entrepreneurs efficient and affordable access to industry-leading prototyping equipment, including electronics labs, 3D-printers, laser cutters and molding machines, plus hands-on training and unrivalled industry mentorship at a fraction of the current market costs.”

What does Arc have to offer entrepreneurs?

Arc brings together under one roof the necessary tools and equipment for startups to bring their ideas to life, from prototyping and manufacturing through to assembly and testing, plus visual and audio recording facilities to prepare entrepreneurs for pitching to third-party investors.

“Arc operates on a subscription-based model, ensuring affordable access to cutting-edge prototyping and manufacturing technologies from as little as $25 per day,” Vicario said.

“In addition, Arc also provides a vast array of knowledge-based resources to its members to maximise their chances of becoming a globally scaled business, including ongoing engagement with Arc’s management team, industry networking and investor engagement opportunities and educational programs.”

Vicario said the Vektor Innovation team was driven by the belief that all entrepreneurs should have the opportunity to realise their dreams.

“Our vision is to foster and encourage talented, driven people with great ideas and provide them with the opportunity to create and test the market,” Vicario said.
