The Australian Business Awards [1]is a comprehensive business award recognising leadership, success and innovation within the broad spectrum of the Australian business community. Established as an independent limited liability corporation free of corporate or government funding, the Australian Business Awards was created to provide an unbiased business award program that creates a benchmark for quality assurance and evaluation of Australian businesses and organisations.
The Australian Business Awards seeks to promote the best of the best with organisations from all sectors of industry being eligible to participate in this contest. The Australian Business Awards recognises businesses with twenty different category awards. There are ten organisation awards recognising business success, social development, quality and service. There are also ten product awards that recognise innovation, excellence and marketing of consumer and business to business products and services.

Participation in the Australian Business Awards provides the entrants with the opportunity to be evaluated against other competitors in the Australian marketplace. Award winners are able to use the licensed Australian Business Awards logo in all of their marketing, communication and promotional material to enhance their business profile. Award winners will be featured on the Australian Business Awards website and in media release.

This award is open to both private and public Australian business organisations including non-government organisations, franchisors, and subsidiaries of multinational corporations operating in Australia and government department or agencies. For the product award category, the product must be a specific product or service that is currently available in the Australian marketplace.

All documents that are submitted to the contest are secured and will be destroyed after the winners are announced. The entrant is responsible for the collection of product samples at the conclusion of the contest.
An Entrant is eligible to be nominated in up to three different categories annually. A separate submission form must be entered for each category. The submission must be made by an authorised company officer or employee.
There are no fees to register for the Australian Business Awards. The award winners in each category will have to pay a licensing fee to use the Australian Business Awards logo on their marketing materials and website.
The Australian Business Award for Enterprise recognises organisations that have achieved outstanding commercial success whilst undertaking bold new ventures.
The Australian Business Award for Innovation recognises organisations that have made significant contributions to their industry through research and development resulting in the introduction of a new idea, method, technology, process or application of social, environmental and/or economic benefit. Achievements can include but are not limited to changes to Government policy or processes, improvements in social or health services and/or differentiated products and services.
The Australian Business Award for Service Excellence recognises organisations that deliver outstanding customer service.
The Australian Business Award for International Trade recognises organisations that have achieved outstanding levels in international trade in any industry sector.
The Australian Business Award for Retail Excellence recognises the contributions and achievements of retail organisations.
The Australian Business Award for Recommended Employer recognises organisations that provide a stimulating and supportive workplace.
The Australian Business Award for Environmental Sustainability recognises organisations that demonstrate leadership and commitment to the enhancement, preservation and protection of the environment.
The Australian Business Award for Marketing Excellence recognises organisations that have achieved outstanding levels in marketing strategy and execution.
The Australian Business Award for Public Service recognises the contributions and achievements of public service institutions.
The Australian Business Award for Community Contribution recognises organisations which implement policies or projects that positively impact on the community and generate outcomes that have a long term benefit.
The Australian Business Award for Product Excellence recognises products or services that demonstrate overall product superiority offering a real point of difference with competitor products.
The Australian Business Award for Product Innovation recognises products or services that demonstrate the introduction of a new idea, method, technology, process or application of benefit and/or commercial significance in the marketplace.
The Australian Business Award for Design Excellence recognises products that demonstrate design of the highest quality, form, function and aesthetics.
The Australian Business Award for Best Value recognises products or services that deliver a genuine cost saving and offer a real point of difference with competitor products.
The Australian Business Award for Best New Product recognises market-leading products or services that, through excellence in research, development and/or manufacturing have launched an exciting and innovative new product that demonstrates substantial improvements in product features when compared to products already available on the market.
The Australian Business Award for Best Consumer Product recognises leading products or services that receive the highest rating by an independent consumer survey.
The Australian Business Award for Best Business Product recognises products or services that significantly improve business processes, increase individual productivity or overall organisational efficiency.
The Australian Business Award for Best E-Business Product recognises products or services that demonstrate innovative and strategic application of the internet, communications and information technology.
The Australian Business Award for Best Eco-Friendly Product recognises environmentally friendly products or services that demonstrate innovation and commitment to sustainable living.
The Australian Business Award for Best Organic Product recognises products that are produced according to organic standards that demonstrate overall product superiority offering a real point of difference with competitor products.

After an entrant has registered online they will have to verify their email with Australian Business Awards. Once the verification is received the entrant will receive an entry form to be completed by March 31, 2010.
There are two rounds of judging. The first round judging includes an examination of each entry to ensure it compliance with the requirements of the contest. All entrants will also be judged based upon characteristics such as leadership and strategy; impact on industry and community; sustainability and success. All organisations that are selected for the second round of judging will be notified by email or registered mail.
The second round of judging is a semi-finalist round. The award winner will receive notification of their result a week before the public announcement by confidential mail. The award winners will be announced by on June 25, 2010.
