I don’t think I could stand the U.S. election cycle. Three years of campaigning would be unbearable. The Australian election cycle is bad enough.
This has got to be the viral video of the week and it shows that Australian politics has made it to the world stage. Not necessarily in a good way. Thankfully, this was filmed before the Kevin Rudd hair flicking fiasco, and the cheat notes saga. Not to mention Tony Abbott’s confusion about repositories of knowledge. Frankly, Australian politicians are giving comedians far too much to work with!
Regular reporter on the Daily Show, John Oliver is the man behind the desk, while Jon Stewart is off working on a film. Oliver, who graced Australia with his presence earlier this year to prove a point, or seven, about gun control, has brought the world’s attention to the 2013 election campaign.
He also does a damn fine Australian accent coupled with some excellent iPhone humour.
And, he makes a fair point. Every gaff, scandal and faux pas that the U.S. candidates make over three years, Australian politicians are managing to pack into just four weeks.
As every entrepreneur knows, speed can make a big difference. It’s far better than letting things run unchecked for three years!
