Anthill launches new Business Directory… the AntPages!

My dad once asked me: “How do you eat an elephant?”

The answer: “One small piece at a time.”

This week, Anthill launched the first version of its new, online business directory – the AntPages.

Our goal is simple – create a place where individuals and organisations involved in business development are able to promote their goods and services to like-minded entrepreneurs and innovative professionals.

We know it looks a bit scrappy. And we expect it will initially be a bit buggy.

But we also realise that sometimes it pays to just grab that elephant, bite off more than you can chew… and chew like crazy!

If you would like to be among the first to test-drive this directory (for free, depending on what option you choose), click here.

If you discover any ‘lumpy bits’, any unexpected gristle that we haven’t yet properly masticated, we welcome your comments below (or via Twitter, which today seems to be your preferred choice of communication).

    Looks awesome, James!

One quick thought – I looked at a couple of people there whose work I love … and being a Facebookaholic, went to click the “like” button … I am so not a designer or back-end person so I don’t know how hard it would be – but how cool would it be to have a business directory with a simple recommendation system that allowed us to say “Yes – use Anne, she rocks!” … maybe something to look at …

It’s in the pipeline (among many cool features). In fact, I’m hoping that the site will already look radically different by Monday. JT

Can you add “graphic designers” as a category – there are lots of us out there! If I didn’t also offer web design, there would have been no category remotely like graphic design that I could have chosen. Otherwise, great start! I love your attitude of just getting out there and starting something.

Done. :-) It’s now on right hand column (Yet to propagate into main listing area). Thanks for the tip! James

    James

    I love this section

Please can you add Internet retailing or “Internet Retailing resources” or online retailing or “Online retailing resources” as a category. I am trying to pioneer this category in Australia and help nurture and grow it. It appears nowhere and you would be joining me in assisting the growth of this fledgling industry in this country.

Stay feisty, we need to talk soon!

    James,

Great site. I have submitted one site but would like to submit one to a category of food or restaurants and another to accommodation perhaps?

    Good luck

We have extended Travel Services to include accommodation. :-)

9 things a 9 month-old can teach you about online marketing [VIDEO]

This morning, I sat down with my 9-month old son, Julian, to feed him breakfast. This is one of the jobs allocated to me as a first-time, new father. Remembering the arduous steps required to complete yesterday morning’s meal (and the day before that), and contemplating how bizarre it is that I must work so hard to provide him something that will make him stronger and healthier and happier, I began to think about online marketing. Yes, the brain works in mysterious ways. (And I am kind of sleep deprived.)
